When did Pyotr Tchaikovsky start composing?

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky began composing at the age of 7. Some of his first compositions were: an operetta called Tyotia's Birthday at the age of 14 and six pieces which demonstrate considerable pianistic ability.
