The current (2022) principal harpist for the Metropolitan Opera is Jessica Zhou, who has held this position since 1995. Born in Hunan, China, Zhou began her musical studies at the age of four. She has performed with the Metropolitan Opera since 1988, and has also appeared as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. Zhou has recorded extensively and is a frequent chamber musician.
