Why ponyboy johnny and two bit drive cherry marcia home?

In S.E Hinton's The Outsiders, Johnny, Ponyboy and Two-Bit do not drive Cherry and Marcia home. Darry drives cherry home and Two-Bit gives Martia a ride on his motorcycle.
