Is Tommy the musical play appropriate for a 15yr old child?

Tommy is a rock opera with music and lyrics by Pete Townshend and a book by Des McAnuff. The original concept album by The Who was released in 1969 and the full stage production opened in 1992. The story is about a deaf, dumb and blind boy who becomes a pinball wizard and a messianic figure.

The themes of Tommy include child abuse, sexual assault, physical violence, drug abuse, and suicide. The language used in the play can also be considered to be explicit.

Taking into account the above-mentioned content, it is generally not recommended for children under the age of 17. However, it may also be appropriate for a 15-year-old if discussed with a parent or guardian.
