Musical Theater Grants

Grants for musical theater are given to individuals and organizations to ensure that musical theater productions get staged and to ensure the creation of new musicals. Generally, these grants are open to individual writers, composers, lyricists or organizations, and some of them go toward specific projects. These grants can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on the grantee.
  1. National Endowment for the Arts

    • The National Endowment for the Arts offers a range of grants that go toward assisting projects put on by arts organizations or individual artists. These grants can be used for new musical theater projects, for the improvement of existing projects, for the staging of musical productions or for career development. For example, the Grants for Arts Projects offer organizations year-long grants that range from $5,000 to $150,000. These grants can go to organizations looking to preserve America’s cultural heritage, to open up musical theater to underserved communities, open up musical theater to children or youth programs and to reward artistic excellence. The Arts on Radio and Television grants are given to organizations planning to broadcast their productions nationally on either radio or television, and these grants range from $10,000 to $200,000.
