Who was the author of Cinderella?

The original story of Cinderella is believed to have originated in ancient China around 850 AD and was known as Yeh-Shen.

However, the version most people are familiar with today is a 17th-century French version by Charles Perrault. He published his version in 1697 as part of a collection of fairy tales called "Tales of Mother Goose".

There are also other versions of Cinderella, including Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm's version (published in the 19th century) which has a slightly different ending.
