What does a well written SOP provide the Soldier in absence of leadership?

In the absence of Leadership, a well written SOP provides the Soldier with guidance on:

- How to act and what decisions to make.

- Specific steps and actions to take in a given situation.

- Clear roles and responsibilities.

- Chain of command and reporting requirements.

- Knowledge to complete the mission successfully until guidance/ orders can be obtained from the Chain of Command.
