1. The Illusion of the American Dream: Willy tries to convince himself that he is successful, even though his life is quite the opposite and far from the American Dream.

2. The Role of Society in Personal Failure: Willy blames his failures on society, failing to recognize his hand in his own failures and misfortunes.

3. Importance of Family and loyalty. Willy tries to teach Biff about the importance of the American Dream and of family, but Biff learns a different set of values from Willy's life and ultimately rejects them.
