Which character in The Crucible are hypocritical?

* Abigail Williams: Abigail is the main accuser in the Salem witch trials, and she uses her power to accuse innocent people in order to get what she wants. She is also shown to be manipulative and dishonest, which makes her a hypocritical character.

* Reverend John Hale: Hale is a minister who initially believes in the witch trials, but he eventually comes to realize that they are a sham. However, he does not do anything to stop the trials, which makes him a hypocritical character.

* Thomas Putnam: Putnam is a wealthy farmer who uses the witch trials to take revenge on his enemies. He is also shown to be greedy and self-serving, which makes him a hypocritical character.

Hypocrisy is often shown in literature to highlight inconsistencies among the traits/ values characters claim and what truly is at the core of who they are.
