Who is the headmaster in private peaceful?

The headmaster in Michael Morpurgo's "Private Peaceful" is Mr. Victor Hazell.

He is a stern and unsympathetic figure who is deeply affected by the war and becomes increasingly strict with the students at the school. He is particularly hard on Tommo, the protagonist, who he often finds himself in trouble with.
