How was Johannes family like?

Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571, in Weil der Stadt, a small town in Germany. His father, Heinrich Kepler, was a mercenary soldier who died in the Eighty Years' War when Johannes was five years old. His mother, Katharina Guldenmann, was a former innkeeper who was accused of witchcraft and spent some time in prison. Johannes Kepler had two sisters, Katharina and Margarete.

Kepler's childhood was difficult, and he experienced poverty and hardship. However, he showed a talent for mathematics and astronomy at an early age, and he was able to attend the University of Tübingen on a scholarship. Kepler went on to become one of the most important astronomers of his time, and he is best known for his three laws of planetary motion.
