In drama what is aside?

In drama, an aside is a speech that a character delivers directly to the audience, without the other characters on stage appearing to hear it. Asides are often used to provide the audience with information that the other characters are not aware of, or to express the character's thoughts and feelings in a way that the other characters cannot hear. Asides can be either spoken or sung, and they can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

- To provide the audience with information about the characters, the setting, or the plot

- To reveal a character's true feelings or thoughts

- To create a sense of intimacy between the audience and the character

- To provide comic relief

- To foreshadow future events

Asides are a common device in drama, and they can be used to create a variety of effects. However, they should be used sparingly, as they can disrupt the flow of the action if they are overused.
