Why does Macbeth kill the men?

There are various instances throughout the play "Macbeth" where he commits several murders. Here are a few notable killings and the motivations behind them:

Duncan: Macbeth kills King Duncan, the rightful ruler of Scotland, to fulfill his desire for power and become king himself.

Banquo: Macbeth orders the murder of Banquo and his son Fleance due to fear of Banquo's knowledge about the witches' prophecies and the potential threat he poses to Macbeth's position as king.

Macduff's family: Macbeth has Macduff's wife and children brutally killed out of paranoia and his need to eliminate potential challengers to his rule.
