What was tragic flaw?

In literature, a tragic flaw is a characteristic or defect in the protagonist that leads to their downfall. Examples of tragic flaws include pride, anger, or jealousy. In the famous play Romeo and Juliet, for instance, the tragic flaw could be said to be the protagonists' excessive passion and impulsivity.
