What is mime in drama terms?

Mime is a form of performing art in which performers use gestures, body movements, and facial expressions to tell a story or create a character. Unlike pantomime, which involves the exaggeration of physical actions, mime relies on subtle, precise movements and gestures. Mimes do not use words, relying solely on physical expression to convey emotions, ideas, and actions. Their performances often combine dramatic storytelling with humor, irony, and social commentary. Mime has roots in ancient Roman pantomime and Commedia dell'Arte and continues to be an important element in contemporary theater and street performances.
