How does Macbeth and lady try to avoid suspicion?

To avoid suspicion, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth try to maintain a composed and natural demeanor. After the murder of King Duncan, they act as mourning subjects and make public displays of emotion, hoping to blend in with the court. Macbeth takes on the appearance of a grieving family member during the wake and funeral proceedings. They try to act normal and unsuspicious around others and avoid drawing attention to themselves, hoping to prevent any hint of guilt. To further divert attention, Macbeth immediately initiates an investigation into Duncan's murder, appointing trustworthy individuals to find the "guilty" parties. By projecting and deflecting blame they aim to shift any potential scrutiny away from themselves. Through a combination of feigned emotions and skillful manipulation, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth initially succeed in concealing their involvement in Duncan's death and managing to avert significant suspicion from falling upon them.
