Why was littlun percival crying?
Percival, the littlun with the "shock of red hair", cried because he was
lost and afraid. He was separated from the other littluns and couldn't find his way back to the group. He was small and vulnerable, and the vastness of the island, especially the forest, was terrifying to him.
This is highlighted in the novel *Lord of the Flies* by William Golding. The crying episode emphasizes the vulnerability of the boys and their lack of preparedness for survival on the island.
