Who are litigants?

Litigants are the parties involved in a lawsuit. They are the individuals, groups, or organizations who are bringing a claim against someone (the plaintiff) or defending against a claim (the defendant).

Here's a breakdown:

* Plaintiff: The person or entity initiating the lawsuit and seeking relief from the court.

* Defendant: The person or entity against whom the lawsuit is filed.

Examples of litigants:

* Personal injury case: The plaintiff could be the injured person, and the defendant could be the person or entity responsible for the injury.

* Divorce case: The litigants would be the husband and wife seeking to dissolve their marriage.

* Business dispute: The litigants could be two companies involved in a contract dispute.

Important note: Litigants can be individuals, businesses, governments, or even non-profit organizations. The term "litigant" encompasses anyone involved in a legal case as a party.
