Why does Janice kill Richie Aprile?

Janice Soprano does not kill Richie Aprile.

Richie Aprile is killed by Tony Soprano, in a fit of rage after Richie insults and threatens Tony's mother, Livia. This occurs in Season 2, Episode 12 ("Commendatori") of the HBO series *The Sopranos*.

Janice is involved in the aftermath of the event, and the following scene is the source of much confusion:

* After Tony kills Richie, he goes to Janice's apartment to explain what happened. She is initially very angry at him, but then seems to take him back and offers him comfort.

* However, in the next scene, Janice confronts Tony, implying she knew about Richie's death beforehand, and that he was somehow responsible.

This scene leaves the audience with the impression that Janice might have been involved in Richie's death, or perhaps even that she orchestrated it. However, there is no evidence to support this. It is likely that Janice's behavior is fueled by her own unresolved feelings towards Richie, and her desire to appear strong and in control.

Ultimately, the ambiguity surrounding Janice's involvement adds to the complexity of her character and the intrigue of the show.
