What does violet invent in the Bad Beginning of A series unfortunate events?

Violet Baudelaire, in the first book of A Series of Unfortunate Events, "The Bad Beginning", doesn't invent anything. She is shown to be a very talented inventor, but the book focuses on her being separated from her siblings and placed in the care of Count Olaf.

While she's with Count Olaf, she doesn't have any opportunities to create inventions. We see her being creative in using what she has, like her hair ribbons to try and escape, but she doesn't actually invent anything new in this book.

However, Violet's inventive nature is a crucial part of her character and sets the stage for her later inventions throughout the series.
