Is the wicked witch of west dedd?

The Wicked Witch of the West is a fictional character from L. Frank Baum's novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." She is not a real person, and therefore cannot be "dead" in the real world.

However, in the story, she is famously killed by Dorothy, who throws a bucket of water on her.
