No. Rudolf is a fictional character from the 1939 story written by Robert L. May. The storybook was an instant bestseller and has sold more than 150 million copies. Rankin/Bass' classic 1964 stop-motion animated tv special brought the story to life with the famous narration of Burl Ives.
