What happen first in The Outsiders?

In "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, the story begins with the narrator, Ponyboy Curtis, introducing his neighborhood and the rivalry between two teenage gangs: the Greasers and the Socs. Ponyboy and his friends, Johnny and Dally, are Greasers, while the Socs are from a wealthier side of town.

The first major event in the story occurs when Ponyboy and Johnny encounter a group of Socs at a drive-in movie theater. The Socs begin harassing Ponyboy and Johnny, and a fight ensues. Johnny ends up killing one of the Socs in self-defense.

This incident sets off a chain of events that leads to further conflict between the Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are forced to flee their neighborhood and hide out at an abandoned church. They must decide what they will do next and how they will deal with the consequences of their actions.
