Who was Hornell Hart?

Hornell Norris Hart, (1888-1975) also known as H. Hart was an internationally influential sociologist.

- H. Hart worked as sociology teacher in Reed College, Wellesley College, Duke University, Harvard Divinity School, Bryn Mawr College, University of North Carolina, Duke divinity School

- In Reed College and Bryn Mawr college he is remembered for his contribution and work on his courses titled Social Problems.

- The research paper on Measuring Social Welfare and Social Progress, presented on International Congress of Psychology, 1929 at Yale led to formation of The National Welfare Federation(NWF). It's main project called Social Science Abstracts were used as base from the present day Social Science Database of Sociological Abstracts LLC.

- H. Hort made remarkable discoveries on family sociology research by using statistical data. Some key works on this regard is his work titled Differential Mortality by Social Class.

- H. Harti was a peace advocate. His advocacy on peace got much appreciation and was awarded "American peace award' and he also delivered the Gandhian Lectures series for 1974.

- In 1953 , he retired and dedicated himself into research work that lead into publishing of his best selling and well known book,Social Theory and Social Change.
