What happens to Alison in Pretty Little Liars?

In the popular TV series "Pretty Little Liars," Alison DiLaurentis's disappearance becomes the central mystery of the show. Eventually, it is revealed that Alison was actually alive and had faked her death. During the five years she was missing, she was held captive by her older half-brother Charles, later revealed to be transgender and taking on the name CeCe Drake. CeCe was obsessed with Alison and wanted to punish her for causing the accident that resulted in the death of their younger stepsister Bethany Young.

Alison endures unimaginable physical and psychological abuse while held captive by CeCe. She has to learn how to survive in the harsh conditions, and she develops mental and emotional resilience. However, the trauma she experiences leaves lasting scars.

Alison often serves as a catalyst for the Liars' investigations and also confronts her demons and secrets from her past.
