What does Dorothy do to wicked witch?

In the novel and film of 'The Wizard of Oz', Dorothy uses the water from enchanted silver bucket provided by Glinda, The Good Witch of the North. She throws the enchanted water directly to Wicked Witch from Kansas after which the witch starts melting till there is nothing left of her except a puddle.
