How did jolly ranchers get there names?

The Jolly Rancher candy got its name in honor of Bill Harmsen, the Jolly Rancher. William Harmsen (Bill) was co-founder and first president of the Jolly Rancher Candy Company along with his brother-in-law Elmer Peterson; their sister and Elmer’s wife was Grace Harmsen Peterson.
