Can you file for child support when your children are grown?

Generally, you cannot request child support for grown children. Child support is typically ordered to provide for the financial needs of children during their minority (childhood). Once a child reaches the age of majority, they are legally considered an adult and are expected to be financially independent.

Exceptions to this general rule may exist in certain jurisdictions. For example, some states may allow for child support payments to continue beyond the age of majority if the child is still dependent on the parent for support due to a disability or continued education.

If you have questions or concerns regarding child support for your grown children, it's best to consult with a family law attorney in your jurisdiction to understand the specific laws and regulations that apply in your case.
