When did theater in education start?
Theater in education (TIE) can trace its roots back to ancient Greece, when drama was used as a tool to teach moral and civic lessons. In the 16th century, the Jesuits used theater as a means of catechizing and educating their students. In the 18th and 19th centuries, TIE was used in Europe and the United States to promote social reform and educate workers and immigrants. In the early 20th century, TIE began to be used in schools and community centers as a way to engage students and teach them about a variety of subjects.
