What is the Broadway show Wicked about?

Wicked, the untold story of the Witches of Oz

Set in the fantastical land of Oz, Wicked tells the thrilling and inspiring account of two unlikely friends whose destinies become forever entwined. Long before Dorothy arrives in Oz from Kansas, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. She is named Elphaba. The other, born under the Good Witch's spell, is beautiful, ambitious, and very popular. Her name is Glinda. The two face numerous challenges while attending Shiz University, where they learn about witchcraft. In time, Elphaba becomes known as the Wicked Witch of the West. But why is she deemed wicked? And what drove her down this path?

"Wicked" is a magical and enchanting story about the power of friendship and the importance of understanding people who are different from you. It shows how even the most unlikely people can become friends, and how that friendship can have a profound impact on their lives. The musical is also a powerful reminder that not everyone is as they seem, and that there is always more to a story than what we are first told.

It is a story of love, friendship and redemption.
