Broadway Shows for Children in NYC

There are many shows on Broadway that will delight children and their parents. The Broadway League has designated the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month "Kids Night on Broadway," where six to 18-year-olds can see a participating Broadway show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Tickets go on sale two months in advance.
  1. "The Little Mermaid"

    • See the beautiful mermaid Ariel in this very colorful musical as she searches for love on land (see Resources).

    "Shrek The Musical"

    • Based on the Oscar-winning film "Shrek," "Shrek The Musical" brings the famous Ogre and his fairy tale full of misfits to life (see Resources).

    "Mary Poppins"

    • The uplifting magical production of Mary Poppins takes flight on Broadway with timeless musical numbers such as "Chim Chim Cher-ee" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" (see Resources).

    "Billy Elliot"

    "The Lion King"

    • Celebrating more than 10 years on Broadway, "The Lion King" boasts highly innovative puppetry that brings the story of Simba and all the animals of the African Pride Lands to life. The show is one of the most successful Broadway productions in history (see Resources).

    "Wicked"

    • "Wicked" tells the previously untold story of the witches of Oz, long before Dorothy got there.
