What is spokane famous for?

The Lilac City

Spokane is known as the Lilac City due to the extensive number of lilac bushes growing in the area, predominantly around Browne's Addition, Manito Park, and many surrounding neighborhoods. They flower each spring between April and May, resulting in a beautiful fragrant purple display. During the lilac season, Spokane celebrates the Lilac Festival, which features food vendors, live music, and the crowning of the Lilac Queen and Court.

Expo '74

Spokane hosted the World's Fair in 1974, known as Expo '74. The fair's theme was "Celebrating Tomorrow's Fresh New Environment" and showcased innovations and technologies related to the environment, urban planning, and sustainable living.
