Open Windows Media Player. Navigate to the song in your library that is missing track information.
Right-click the song. In the context menu that pops up, select "Find Album Info."
Look for the album information in the window that pops up that best fits your track. You can edit the search criteria manually if the displayed information is inaccurate. The information may be a different artist or album than what you are looking for. Type in the terms you are searching, such as the name of the artist or the song title, if you know it, for to get better results. When satisfied, click the information, then click "Finish" to update your song.
Select multiple songs at once to edit an entire album of music. Either highlight them all or use shift-click to select the tracks.
Download and install a third-party music library organization tool. MusicBrainz and Tidy Songs are two examples of these kinds of programs, found in the Resources section.
Open the music library organization tool. Set the default music file location.
Choose the method by which you want to edit your tracks. You can choose to edit the genres within iTunes, or choose to edit the entire track information of a song.
Guide the organization tool to your music folder and select the tracks you want to edit. Some organization tools give you the option to edit your entire music library at once, filling in and correcting any missing or incorrect data.
Double-check that the new information is actually the correct information. In some cases, the updated information may not be the information you were looking for.
