How to Find a Song by Lyrics & Phrases

Have you heard a catchy tune on the radio that you could not get out of your head? You wanted to hear it again, but you could only remember a couple of lyrics and key phrases from the song. With that small bit of information, you can now find the song's artist and title. With the help of technology and a few tricks, you can learn how to find a song by lyrics and phrases

      Search for a song using Google.Type a few lyrics into Google's search bar and hit "Enter." Review the results and click the results that most closely match the lyrics that you originally typed. You will likely find the song you are looking for on the first page of the search results.

      Find the song using a lyric search engine. Visit the website Lyrster (See References). In the box that says, "Type Down the Words You Remember," enter the song's information, then click the box, "Find My Song." Under the Lyrics Results, you will see a list of songs with the related artist's names. Choose one of the songs from the results. You will then see the song lyrics and be given an option to have a ringtone of that song sent to your cell phone.

      Hum a few phrases. With your voice and your computer's microphone in tow, visit the website midomi (See References). Click the box that says, "Click and Sing or Hum." Sing 10 seconds or more of the song's catchy lyrics into your microphone and hit the button, "Click to Stop." Wait for your recording to upload. Hit the green arrow to see your results. Your results will include a list of audio samples that are user submitted, as well as audio samples that are of the original song. Once you have located the song you want, you can listen to it and purchase it. You must create an account to make purchases.
