How to Obtain Permission From the Celtic Women to Use Their Songs

Obtaining permission to use copyrighted songs by Celtic Woman involves contacting the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, or the record company which issues their albums, EMI. Requests for music usage permission normally are sent to the publisher directly, although in the case of Celtic Woman songs, you can send your request to ASCAP, which represents their publisher. The EMI legal department also has information about getting permissions for Celtic Woman material.

Instructions

Contact the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers via its website. ASCAP is the clearinghouse and representative for hundreds of publishers of music, including all the Celtic Woman songs. Permission to use these songs must be obtained directly from the publisher. Your request must include how, where, when, and with what frequency the Celtic Woman songs will be used. ASCAP will determine whether your request is valid and whether it will be approved, before informing you of the licensing fees.

Write to the record company which issues Celtic Woman material, EMI, at their California office:

      EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets

      5750 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 300

      Los Angeles, CA 90036

EMI can identify whether the songs you are seeking to use are copyrighted. Fees begin at $500 but are likely to be higher for more recent popular songs such as those on the Celtic Woman albums.
