(Bill Lister)
I was born and raised in a small town in the South
Where the people were friendly and the life was slow
Mama kept the house clean, Daddy worked the farm
And I'd spend my days running barefoot through the yard
Mama's cooking was the best, you know
She made cornbread, greens and big fat pork chops
Daddy'd bring me home a treat so sweet
An RC Cola and a Moon Pie
Oh it was simple living back in those days
And money wasn't something that we always had
But we were rich in other ways
With the love of our family and God in our hearts
Now I'm grown up and gone away
But I'll never forget those simple days
When all I needed was a RC Cola and a Moon Pie
The world may have changed, but some things never do
Like the love of a family and the taste of a Moon Pie
And when I'm feeling low, all I need to do
Is close my eyes and think about those simple days
And I'm home again
Oh it was simple living back in those days
And money wasn't something that we always had
But we were rich in other ways
With the love of our family and God in our hearts
Now I'm grown up and gone away
But I'll never forget those simple days
When all I needed was a RC Cola and a Moon Pie
Oh, RC Cola and Moon Pie, Moon Pie and RC Cola,
Simple pleasures, simple joys, that never seem to grow old.
Oh, RC Cola and Moon Pie, Moon Pie and RC Cola,
Sweet memories, lasting smiles, that always make your day worthwhile.
