Is the song fireflies about suicide?

The song "Fireflies" by Owl City is not about suicide. The song is actually a tribute to childhood imagination and how it can be used to escape adult worries and problems. In an interview, Owl City's lead singer, Adam Young, said that the song was inspired by a time when he was on tour and "feeling homesick and disconnected from everything". He looked out the window of the bus and saw fireflies flying by and thought about how as a child he would catch fireflies and make wishes.
