Are some hymns written to the tune of beer drinking songs?

Some hymns share tunes with traditional folk songs or drinking songs. While it may appear they were directly based on them, it's more likely both sources drew from a common melody that predates either song.

An excellent example is "For all the Saints" (#475 in *The Hymnal 1940*, for instance). Its tune, Sine Nomine or Sarum, has appeared at least since the 1700s and has also been associated with "When Johnny Comes Marchin' Home."
