Billy Ocean (born Leslie Sebastian Charles; 21 January 1950) is a Trinidadian-British R&B singer-songwriter. He has released 11 studio albums, three live albums, and several compilation albums. Ocean is best known for his hit singles "Caribbean Queen" (1984), "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going" (1985), and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" (1988).
Ocean was born in Fyzabad, Trinidad and Tobago. He began his music career in the early 1970s, releasing several albums in the UK. He gained international recognition in the 1980s with the release of the album "Caribbean Queen". The album was certified triple platinum in the United States and produced several hit singles, including the title track, "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going", and "Suddenly".
Ocean continued to release successful albums in the 1980s and 1990s, including "Stay the Night" (1985), "Love Zone" (1986), and "Time to Move On" (1993). He has won several awards, including two Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and two Brit Awards.
Ocean has been inducted into the Trinidadian and Tobagonian Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame. He continues to tour and perform around the world.
