Instructions

    • 1

Make a demo CD with a professional recording engineer. The CD must be great; a good CD is not enough to get you noticed. Focus on the genres of singing that showcase your talent.

    • 2

Develop a short but professional press kit to hand out with the demo CD. Include a picture, bio and any pertinent information such as experience. Hand deliver the package in a gracious and appreciative manner. Thank them for their time and let them know you're available and dependable.

    • 3

Attend artist showcases that allow you to meet industry professionals and network with other people in your field. Hand out your press package and demo when opportunity arises. Keep a detailed collection of business cards and information on contact for later use.

    • 4

Follow up with everyone who received the demo CD by sending a thank you card and later a phone call. Keeping in touch with insider contacts opens unexpected doors for your talent.

    • 5

Make additional demo CDs to send along when making contacts with potential employers a second or third time. Having new material keeps you in the client's mind and can lead to more opportunities.
