What Can Soothe My Throat So I Can Sing Better?

There are times when all the vocal warm-ups in the world won't soothe your throat enough for you to sing your best. Lubricating the vocal cords can be a useful technique, and there are a number of soothing aids you can try to determine which you like.
  1. Honey

    • Pure honey will instantly make the throat feel smooth, but its effects can dissipate quickly.

    Pineapple Juice

    • Pineapple juice served at room temperature causes the salivary glands to produce saliva, which is a great natural throat lubricant.

    Olives

    • Nibbling on an olive is another proven way to get your mouth to salivate.

    Strawberry Juice

    • Your mouth and throat will get very slick from drinking a tiny bit strawberry juice, but its graininess makes it difficult to drink in larger doses.

    Hot Tea with Honey

    • An age-old remedy for sore throats, hot herbal tea with honey can heat and coat your vocal cords and bring out the best in your voice. Not every expert agrees that tea is beneficial, but some swear by it.
