In 2010 the Northeast Florida Fair hosted their 16th annual talent show. Contestants at the Northeast Florida Fair compete in two categories: age 14 and below and age 15 and up. The contest requires a $10 entry fee. First, second and third place winners will be chosen in both categories. The first place winner will receive $100, the second place winner will receive $75 and the third place winner will be awarded $50. The contest itself is held in Callahan, Florida.
Talent Quest hosts a local portion of their national karaoke contest in Spring Hill, Florida. The 2011 contest was held at the VFW. Men and women compete separately in three different genres: country, pop and masters. The winners from the local contest advance to a regional contest and then possibly to the national contest in Laughlin, Nevada. Contestants are ultimately competing for a cut of $27,000 that will be distributed among 18 winners. Contestants each perform three songs. The songs are judged on vocal performance, stage presence and appearance.
Southwest Florida's Got Talent is sponsored by the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The entry fee is $25 and there is no age requirement. Anyone entering the competition who is the under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian's permission.
The contest is presented as a two-part competition. First, the performers compete at events in Lee or Collier County. Five winners are selected from both counties and those finalists then compete at a grand finale for cash, promotions and other prizes. Miami, Florida hosts the Young Patronesses of Opera singing competition. The contest specializes in classic opera and is judged over the course of two days as the judges watch auditions from hundreds of applicants. Participants are divided into two different age groups: ages 20 to 25 and ages 26 to 30.
The Voice Competition Committee is not only responsible for selecting the contest's judges, but also for sifting through cassette tapes and compact discs of hopeful competitors. Winners are only eligible to receive cash prizes as well as scholarships for future educational pursuits.
