What happened to the singing group determinations?

The singing group 'The Deterrents' was formed in Riverside, California in 1962 by brothers Larry Ramos (vocals), Bobby Ramos (bass) and David Ramos (drums). The band started out initially covering songs by other artist such as The Beatles, Roy Orbison, The Ventures and The Shadows eventually incorporating original songs into their sets over the years. Although they were highly influential in the southern California music scene, they were relatively unknown during the 1960s and did not receive international acclaim.

The Deterrents' original line-up included drummer David Ramos, bassists Bobby Ramos, guitarist Jimmy McAllister, guitarist Gary Vandegriff, and vocalist Larry Ramos. The group later added additional members such as guitarist David Jackson and vocalist Eddie Perez, as well as touring guitarists including Mark Tulin, Mike Watt and John "Juano" Velasquez.

Despite releasing multiple singles, EP's and demos throughout the 60's and early 70's, the Deterrents never managed to secure a major record deal. Some of their notable recordings include "She Lied" (1963), "Don't Think Twice (1964), and "Get Out Of My Life (1966).

After struggling to achieve mainstream success, the Deterrents disbanded in 1972, reuniting and disbanding intermittently throughout the subsequent decades. Some of their members went on to form or collaborate with other bands including Los Lobos, The Blasters, and The Plugz.

The Deterrents are not longer considered actively performing today, however their influence can still be heard in the music of some of the other bands they worked with.
