Why do your lips make a popping sound when you smack them together?

The popping sound is caused by the pressure change created when the lips are quickly smacked together. When you purse your lips and then quickly open them, the air trapped inside the oral cavity is suddenly released. This causes a rapid change in air pressure, which creates a popping sound.
