Why Did Mariah Start Singing?

Mariah Carey was influenced by her mother, Patricia Hickey, who was an opera singer. Carey began singing at a young age and was encouraged to develop her vocal skills by her mother. She took voice lessons and sang in church choirs. Carey's musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Minnie Riperton, who inspired her to pursue a career in music. By the time she was in high school, she was writing and composing her own songs and her natural talent and passion for music eventually led her to a successful singing career.
