1. Turn off the recorder and unplug it from the power outlet.
2. Open the recorder's head cover.
3. Place the demagnetizer with its flat surface facing the playback or record/playback head of the recorder.
4. Turn on the demagnetizer and move it slowly back and forth across the head, holding it about 1/8 inch (3 mm) away.
5. Continue moving the demagnetizer for 10 to 15 seconds, then turn it off.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 for any additional heads on the recorder, such as the erase head.
7. Close the recorder's head cover and plug the recorder back into the power outlet.
When using a head demagnetizer, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and use a demagnetizer that is specifically designed for audio tape recorders. Additionally, it's recommended that you demagnetize the heads of your recorder every 50 to 100 hours of use to ensure optimal sound quality.
