Camila was a Cuban-American Latin pop duo formed in 2014 in Miami, Florida. The group consisted of Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (known simply as Camila Cabello) and Lauren Michelle Jauregui Morgado. The duo gained prominence as contestants on the second season of the American singing competition show The X Factor in 2012, where they finished in third place.
After The X Factor, Camila signed with Syco Music and Epic Records. They released their debut studio album, Camila, on January 22, 2018, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold over 1 million copies worldwide. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and produced hit singles such as "Havana" and "Never Be the Same."
In December 2016, Cabello announced her departure from the group to pursue a solo career. Jauregui confirmed her intention to continue as a solo artist in an interview with Billboard in October 2017.
