What Do I Need to Make a Music Studio?

The music studio "is where all the magic happens," as people often say. It's the birth of the music, the place where it is created, recorded and mastered for commercial use. If you want to build your own music studio, you need to include all this equipment.
  1. Building and Room

    • Purchase or rent a building apart from any other business or residence. Make sure it's in an area where your neighbors will not complain about noise.

    Sound Acoustics

    • Perfectly straight rooms with four defined corners is bad for sound acoustics. Search for a room that has walls that do not meet at 90 degree angles.

    Mixer

    • The mixer is your most important piece of audio equipment. The actual recording of the music goes into the mixer, which eventually serves as your mixing central station.

    Sound Booth

    • Every studio has at least two rooms. The main room where the mixer is placed and the sound engineer and producer work, and the second room where the talent performs and records their music.

    Additional Equipment

    • Make sure you include basic music equipment like microphones, mic stands and pop filters along with other needs, such as water for the band and a restroom.
