Purchase a recording studio software program for your computer. These programs come fully equipped with everything you need to have a professional recording studio, including multitrack recording, tools for audio editing, and mixing and mastering your music. Two of the best programs to use are Adobe Audition and Garage Band.
Install your recording software on your computer. You may want to delete some old, unused files and programs from your computer to make sure you have plenty of room on your hard drive to run your studio program.
Connect your recording interface to your computer. The interface will plug into the USB port of your computer. The interface will allow you to connect your studio mic to the computer and record vocals and music in the studio program. The best types to use are Line 6 Tone Port interfaces.
Install the software program that came with your recording interface. This program will give you settings for both vocals and instruments that will give your sound recording a more polished, professional sound.
Hook up your studio microphone to the recording interface. You will need two mic cords. One will connect to the mic and into the phantom power source. The other will run from the phantom power source to the interface.
Sync your recording interface with your studio program. Open up the studio program and go to the Options tab. Scroll down and click on "Devices." Click on the name of your recording interface, and you should now be able to use it to record into your studio program.
