Connect a MIDI cable by plugging the "MIDI out" on your Yamaha keyboard and plug the "MIDI in" cable to your computer. Note that on a UX16 cable, you need to use the plug with "In" embossed on it in the "MIDI out" plug while inserting the plug with the "Out" embossed on it in the "MIDI in" connector.
Set the channel on your Yamaha to a MIDI Channel. Go to the Yamaha website to download necessary drivers for your keyboard.
Make use of computer programs that allow information transfer through a USB cable rather than a MIDI cable if you want to bypass "input" and "output" issues.
Open an audio editing program on your computer and import the music you recorded. Some programs give you the option of recording straight into the audio program, without having to pre-record.
Use the internal memory on your Yamaha to record music that you create. Press the record tab and play your music to store it internally.
Create a recording straight on a CD or DVD using a CD or DVD burner. Do this by connecting optimal outputs, such as a headphone to the analog inputs, which you will find on the back side of your CD or DVD recorder.
Transfer your recording to a floppy disc for use on other media. Do this by selecting the tabs on the corner of your screen that offer options for saving and choosing to save the recording on a floppy disk.
